HEALTH SAFETY & ENVIRONMENT POLICY

OPA, Lda is committed to the highest standard of health, safety and environmental responsibility in every activity it undertakes. We are committed to providing a workplace where everyone is safe, healthy and secure, the environment is not harmed, our assets are not damaged and we comply fully with all applicable laws and regulations. 

To ensure such commitment to quality, OPA, Lda shall:

OPA, Lda has adopted international best practice to benchmark our Occupational Health and Safety Management System that complies with:

  • OSHAS 18001 for Occupational Health and Safety
  • ISO 14001 for Environmental Managemen
  • ISO 9001 for Quality Management
  • IMDG (IMO) Code for Dangerous Goods Handling

We have objectives and targets for:

  • COMPLIANCE with all applicable laws, regulations and other requirements of the country we are operating in and/or the specific client we are operating for
  • WASTE MANAGEMENT with an emphasis on where harmful products are contained and disposed of in an environmentally safe method. OPA, Lda is fully compliant with Angola Minamb Presidential Decree 190/12 and with Impa Port Reception Facilities for Ship Generated Wastes and Cargo Residues Regulations.
  • PREVENTION OF POLLUTION through more efficient use of natural resources, reduction of releases to the environment, and the recovery of products that pose an environmental threat.
  • CONTINUAL IMPROVEMENT of the effectiveness of our Environmental Management System through the implementation of ISO14001.
  • OPA, Lda has an HSE management representative at each of our bases. They are responsible for and have the resources to implement our HSE policy and to ensure that all employees and contractors have adequate HSE awareness, skills and competence.
